• Account & Profile Information: Reader authentication is passwordless via single-use magic links sent to your email address (backed by cryptographically secure SHA-256 tokens with a 15-minute expiration). We collect your email address, display name, and optional profile details (handle, avatar emoji, bio, reading preferences). For staff accounts requiring passwords, credentials are protected with salted, memory-hard scrypt hashing; plain-text passwords are never stored. Reader profiles are private by default.
• Newsletter Subscriptions: If you subscribe, we store your email address and confirmation status so we can deliver requested dispatches. You can unsubscribe at any time via the one-click link in any newsletter.
• Contact Submissions: Inquiries submitted through our contact form include your name, email, and message content to enable us to respond.
• Non-Account-Linked Operational Telemetry: When you consent to analytics, we record pseudonymized reading telemetry (such as scroll depth, reading duration, and aggregate page views). Operational telemetry is decoupled from reader user account IDs to ensure viewing patterns are not associated with personal profiles.
• Technical Server Logs: In accordance with standard web infrastructure security practices, servers log transient technical request metadata (such as IP address hashes, user agents, and error status codes) to protect against denial-of-service attacks, credential stuffing, and abusive traffic.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and secure your account and reading experience.
• To send strictly transactional notifications (such as sign-in magic links, email verification links, and security alerts).
• To deliver editorial newsletters to readers who explicitly opted in.
• To analyze aggregate publication performance and diagnose software defects.

Cookies & External Media

We distinguish strictly necessary technical cookies (used for authentication, CSRF tokens, and recording consent state) from operational analytics cookies. We apply deterministic, automated retention schedules across all application data stores:

• Active Sessions: Automatically pruned after 7 days of inactivity.
• Operational Telemetry: Pruned after 90 days.
• Consent Audit Records: Retained for 365 days to verify consent lifecycle.
• Resolved Contact Inquiries: Pruned 180 days after resolution.
• Deleted Account Records: Account tombstones containing one-way salted hashes are purged 30 days after account deletion.
• Security Audit Logs: Retained for 365 days for incident investigation.

Your Data Rights & Account Control

We provide built-in tools so you can manage, export, and delete your personal data directly:

• Data Export: Signed-in readers can download a comprehensive, structured JSON export of their profile, bookmarks, likes, reading progress, and consent records directly from Account Settings.
• Account Deletion: You can schedule account deletion at any time in Account Settings. Scheduling deletion revokes all active sessions immediately and institutes an automated 14-day recovery window. If not cancelled within 14 days, your personal profile, bookmarks, likes, reading progress, and credentials are permanently purged.
• General Privacy Requests: If you have questions about your data or wish to submit an inquiry without logging in, please contact us through our contact page.

Children’s Privacy

ProdBlie is an editorial technology publication intended for general adult audiences and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where local law specifies).
